Everyone is now Tommy Wiseau
In 2003, Tommy Wiseau produced, directed, and starred in what is arguably one of the worst movies ever made, THE ROOM. Well, years have passed and the film has become a cult-hit.
So it was no surprise that one of the films co-stars Greg Sestero (Mark), decided to write a tell-all book about his time making the picture. The book titled, THE DISASTER ARTIST - MY LIFE INSIDE THE ROOM has become quite the hit and Hollywood has taken notice!
James Franco and his production company, Rabbit Bandini Productions has optioned the book into a movie. We know that Franco will not only co-produce the film. But, he will direct it as well. Joining Franco as co-producers will be his good friends Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen.
Franco wrote a review for the book back in December, you can read it here. In the review he had this to say about Tommy Wiseau:
Tommy Wiseau is undoubtedly a “character,” a mysterious, self-made man whose origins and age are unknown, who somehow has enough money to spend 6 million dollars making and promoting his own film, buying all the equipment in the process. He looks like he is from Bram Stoker’s Transylvania: ageless, muscled, sweet, and scary; he is part vampire, part Hollywood dreamer, part gangster, part Ed Wood, and super lonely.
I personally am very excited about the project and will be sharing more info as production moves further along.
Are you a fan of THE ROOM? Do you think James Franco should play Tommy?
